I had a husband of 17 years kill himself in 2004. He had a great job, many friends, a good therapist, no serious mental health problems…and no one had a clue he had been thinking about it. In fact when I had asked him years before if he ever thought of suicide he said “I would never do that.” Until he did. In the note he left me he said he’d been thinking about if for a long time. We really can’t know what is in another’s mind, and I don’t think those truly intent on it can be dissuaded. Thank you for this story.
