I refer to what you are describing as “crowd emotion” or emotional contagion, which is not a new concept. It is indeed quite a common thing which can be described neurobiologically.
Of course we can reduce every aspect of human consciousness to nothing more than electrical activity in the cereballer apparatus if we choose, and some do.
Spirituality is a broad concept, and something for which there can be no scientific definition. There are as many definitions of the word “spiritual” as there are people. It’s generally described as something transcendent, a feeling of connection to other people, and something that helps us make meaning of our lives. This is far beyond simple crowd emotion, though at times crowd emotion may be a part of it.
We will all have subjective experiences that help us make meaning of our lives; whether or not we frame it as “spiritual” or something else doesn’t really matter.
Since I have opened up my definition of the divine I often have that same sense of the spiritual sitting quietly by myself in the middle of the night or in the middle of a forest with my dogs, or standing on the peak of a snowy mountain. Or at a zydeco concert.
We each get to define it for ourselves.
